How on earth do you guys/girls replace the front sidelight bulbs?   s:? :? s:?   I can't even get my hand down to where the bulb is! Am I missing something here?

Haha. Another victim.
The wrong answer is; by feel and with tiny hands. Can loosen the headlight bolts for more room (slightly).
The right answer is to take the light out, which means bumper half off  s:) :) s:)

Just look up a diagram and study it, then go blind by feel  s:) :) s:)

What a daft design! Spent an hour trying to get my hand to the bulb no chance!   Even took it over to Halfords and the guy gave up!   s:? :? s:?

I'm thinking remove front bumper in the morning as I'm guessing there's a headlight bolt down there somewhere :-/

It's funny, I was in Halfords yesterday and commented to the girl on the till how I found it funny watching people paying to have simple things like wiper blades fitted. Reading this I will definitely paying Halfords the £2.99 charge to fit a headlight bulb if it goes.

Last time I asked in Halfords the guy seemed all to keen to find out whether it was a headlight that needed removing to change the bulb. He said that they wouldn't touch it if that was the case.
But, I'd watch them try for 2.99 hahaha. I'd go to buy some air freshener or washer fluid and pay 2.99 for a show

I have big hands but must have been lucky. Just two fingers onto the fitting and turn 90 degrees and it comes out. Replaced bulb. Found it harder to replace, but managed. Maybe ask the wife or partner to try if they have small hands, but they need to be mechanically minded as well. Good luck

Never had a problem with it myself
Cute & fluffy animals were definitely hurt during the production of this post, there're plenty more where they came from

I don't know how manufacturers get away with this sort of muppetry.

I design electrics for buildings & we're hamstrung all the time by CDM regulations etc that mean we have to design in easy maintenance, demolition & recycling.

The equivalent would be me designing the lighting & say "Oh, well, to replace that bulb you need to take the door off it's hinges, bring in a cherry picker, dismantle half the ceiling, change the bulb, then put it back together. & er, Bob's your, er, uncle?"

Had to change the headlight bulbs on the Mrs' 2004 Honda Accord at the weekend. Passenger side ok but driver's side obscured by A/C pipes, washer fluid filler tube AND the prop rod that supports the bonnet while you're supposed to be doing the work that you can't do because the flippin' support rod is in the way!!!

Solution found on the Honda forum thankfully. Still a complete pain.

I'm a ceiling and partitioning contractor. I've had to dismantle walls before where fan coil units couldn't be serviced.
Trust me some things just don't go to plan.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Soooooo many cars are like this! Crazy but it's how they do it. Good bulbs should last a few years though, less time if your car's stiffer, maybe use led's instead?

I think there's a model of porsche or something that is engine out for new spark plugs!   s:shock:  s:shock:

I suppose the original plan was to get the car back to the dealership to charge £50 for replacing a 50p bulb.

I can't believe anyone on here, or any car club for that matter would even entertain letting a Halfords retard anywhere near their car   s:shock:  s:shock:

Are there several different types of light on the roadster?

I fitted new sidelight bulbs today and it took about 10 minutes;  take a load of the clips from the plastic cover, stick hands down the back of the light and twist the fitting out!

Never done it before but it was a lot easier than doing it on the Smart we used to have!

I think the manufacturers make cars hard to repair/service so people have to take them to a dealer, or is it just me who thinks that.
