Hi,

Just a really quick note at the end of a fantastic week for owning a roadster.

I fitted a set of Tein S. Tech springs last weekend with the invaluable help of a certain Mr Spit and I wanted to give a quick review...

WOW!   s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:

They have transformed to the handling very very noticeably from very good to flipping great. The flatter cornering inspires real confidence in the bends and I can carry noticeably more speed around pretty much everything.  On top of this the removal of the roll makes the 'feel' just right.

Aesthetically it also drops the car nicely into the arches (an even gap all round the wheel) and several people have commented on how the small drop has almost subliminally made it look more like a purposeful car. Comfort hasn't been compromised at all from what I've felt so far too, even with the odd pothole.

Like the TTE twin pipes, I just don't understand why Toyota didn't just bolt these on as standard and stick the RRP up another £200 or so as it makes the car so so much better. An absolutely fantastic upgrade and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Having a my Matt/TTE chassis brace fitted, new set of rear boots and a full geo done at Demon Tweeks tomorrow too to bring it all together some more.

Cheers,
Andy

You think the springs have made a difference, wait till the matt brace goes on. Best handling mod I have fitted so far.

I put about 16k a year on mine as my daily so it was a consideration. I actually bought mine from a member here (basically new) but I think Camskill have them at a pretty good price.

Yeah, looking forward to it. I noticed and improvement with both the front and rear strut braces going on so if the rumours are to be believed the centre brace is going to be something special hopefully.  s:) :) s:)

Its ridiculously good, like you said about how the springs should have been a factory fit this brace also, it tightens everything up especially noticeable with the roof down.

Given some time Andy you'll be fitting coilovers.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

It was considered. At the end of the day the cost vs performance didn't match up as I had the Teins sitting in my garage ready to go on for effectively nothing.

Cost wise imho coilovers are very good. You get new springs shocks topmounts all adjustable for around £600.
Mr T wouldn't come close.
I do agree that TTE/Tein are a very good upgrade for circa £100

I don't disagree with you mate.  s:) :) s:)

It was more that as I had the Teins already and my top mounts and struts are all in decent condition it was the only choice right now for the cost (£0). If the struts ever give up I'll probably go coilies and sell on the springs.

Hehe just surprised it wasn't first on his list!

Glad you're happy with the teins, good to hear they haven't compromised the ride much!

don't forget George Osborne wants his bit. But still cheaper than anywhere else when I was looking.
Luckily I am local so picked up in person. No postage.

I completely agree with what you have said, they are a great addition to the car.

To add another dimension to it, i used mine with standard Shima and arbs for quite a few track days too and they were also brilliant for that. Body roll becomes far more apparent with the higher cornering loads on track but that's also partly due to the arbs.

As an all rounder for an every day car they are a great upgrade, and at the price, worth even as an intermediate
