Again only a pair and no shore rating but inside the UK.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Quote from: "lamcote"I got the following response from Kirk when I emailed him about it:

Hello,

We use 85 Shore A.

Thanks,
-kirk

Wonder what that averages out at when working in conjunction with the stock rubber.

Thanks for all the great info. I'm sure whoever else visits this thread will also find it useful.

The Kirkosaurus inserts are probably what I'll end up going for as they are well priced and 85A.

Thanks again.

As Scotte says, the Kirk mounts are inserts so retain the original rubber so it is difficult to know whether the combination of rubber plus 85A is more or less hard than an entire 75A mount like the twosrus ones.

I think they'll work out less than 75a people seem to think that they are more daily driver friendly.

Aah, I see... A single solid insert will be stiffer for sure.

I remember comparing 60A and 85A Innovative Honda mounts some years ago. I could dig my thumb nail into the red 60A bushing but couldn't do the same with the 85A one. Also, with the stiffer inserts the engine was absolutely unmovable if you tried rocking it by hand.

For mine I think I'd want the harder, and just the front and rear pair.

Well done for getting all the options in one thread people

So GT4play could be the best option for you then Mark.
Need to find out how stiff his inserts are to properly compare.
No innuendo thanks.

I put a thread asking gt4-play about a group price

The only reference I can find suggests standard rubber engine mounts tend to be about 40/45 Shore A. MR2 mounts seem to have much smaller voids than many other cars I have seen, so using the inserts option presumably has less impact on the MR2.

Based on this I would guess the complete 75A mounts are harder than using inserts?

Just to put it out there, I used tiger seal on the 2's rear mount and it reduced engine movement by about 30-40%. That's with the 6 puck ceramic clutch as well.

This would by far be the cheapest DIY solution.

Another alternative to the tiger seal is liquid polyurethane. I've got a used set of mounts at home which I'm going to fill with shore 60a. Just trying to decide on the best approach to the drivers side mount.

Apparently there is a guy on Facebook called Lou Brooks who makes the mounts, anyone on Facebook fancy contact him for details and price for us?

I think it is £60 per mount? There was something on another thread recently.

I want to replace each of my engine mounts, just out of being pedantic as I've ordered a total suspension polybush kit aswell. I don't want any slop at all in my suspension!
