Does anybody have either one of these two eBay obd2 readers?

Both of them work in our other car, but not the MR2.
Stewart@Boro has used his on my mr2 and it does work. So... It's not the port, it's not the readers it seems because they work in the Audi... What gives!?!

I've spent a whopping 8 quid in total for these two

maybe app settings not scanning for the protocol? or the 8 quid in total?  s;) ;) s;)
I'm not saying I'm batman. I'm just saying that nobody has ever seen me and batman in a room together.

I have one that looks identical to the right hand one. Except for the writing. Was an Amazon purchase. £6.
Works fine.
I assume your using the fully paid up version of Torque?
If not give it a try.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Using paid version of Dashcommand, as I have for years.

As I said, it works on the audi... Very odd

Do or do not. There is no try.

It does do a lot more than read the codes and it's the only one I have tried which works with an iPhone and an iPad.

Mine works fine in my mr2, fine in the Nissan, but tried it in a friends focus and didn't work; and my old vectra wouldn't work with it either.

So I feel your pain, I know obd2 is supposed to be a single standard but it doesn't seem that straightforward

Does it have any leds? If so do they light up ? Once mine was pushing the connector back and not quite connecting, but another connector which was slightly thinner plastic was ok.

shnazzle

#17
It does indeed have Leds. Can just make out the power one. The other two are dead. Funny thing is that it did work once with  the old one (right one). Just once and never again

Got the one on the right and it didn't work, I paired it and got it to connect but it set my ABS flashing and lit up the airbag warning light (see vid) I contacted the seller and he sent me another one foc and it does the same.......... [youtube:2izxvka2]H4krMOXU948[/youtube:2izxvka2] if you plug it in after starting the engine the ABS doesnt flash but the airbag light is showing dim all the time.

You pays your money, you takes your chance.......... it cost less than a fiver

Mr X

are the pins ok on the obd2 socket? first thing it should do is start flashing the bluetooth one. If the light is dim maybe it's not got the correct voltage/earth?

you get the abs thing because these are generic (mine cheap one did this that i've now replaced) and it trys to talk down the lines toyota use to communicate with the abs ecu. I made a post about pulling the abs pins to fix that.
I'm not saying I'm batman. I'm just saying that nobody has ever seen me and batman in a room together.

If I leave mine in and switch on the ignition, the abs flashes.mi think Scott's does the same, he pointed it out to me  s:) :) s:)

Airbag flashing thing  is a well known prob. Something to do with the pins and how it scans for an obd2 connection.
But NO connection is crap.

What still puzzles me is why it works perfectly in the Audi

The cheap one I bought first from eBay set off the abs just the same  s:( :( s:(

I don't get that either, I've had the same problem though! Ironically the mr2 has always worked though
