And so it begins !

So got the car in march  and driven over the summer and love it and we even share the same birthday!  the little boy calls it the Banana car so the name has stuck. not had a car of my own for 14 years or so and its been great having a project. Test drove one at there launch for my then girlfriends mum and was blown away how good it was and that was a SMG.wanted a yellow one as really not many around. I always been into cars and  tuning since I was young and brought the first ever MAx Power mag ! and this is not just a car but a project I plan to not sell as I am sure these little cars will just go up in value and is part of the family and plan a MK2 for the wife!

So what are the plans for this 2003 it has 110k L ? well I have been collecting bits over the summer and for sure there will be more but here is what I have.

Hard Top off ebay with fitting kit cheap ! I was lucky. Will be wrapped in Carbon Fibre wrap
Got a pair of FL 16s of Ebay for £25 quid ! so will have 16s all round did this cause I like the factory wheels and the offset will be right. these will be powdered coated Black
After many months I decided on the body mods and got a PFL front bumper and TTE side skirts and front spoiler all genuine Toyota as I know it will fit well.
Rear splats off ebay but should a genuine set come up I will have them.
changed gear knob
Got steering wheel also off ebay but not fitted yet

so what is next well I will go more power and have been out in 2zz power and that was awesome but I love turbo and have a mate who is a engine builder and so don't know yet but for sure it wont stay standard. At this time I am thinking about getting a 1zz and putting in darton liners and 82mm low comp pistons as it will give good torque I want it to punch out of corners. 1zz engines are cheap and the cost of a 2zz gets me a heap of parts . has anyone seen 1zz the compound charged one on youtube !!!!! MENTAL

First up is overhaul the suspension and brakes (got brembo)and that means discs and pads and coilovers and change all bushes and make it like new underneath. will powder coat and change anything that looks tired.so any advice on this I will be grateful regarding underseal and any products anyone has used. I think I will get full super Pro bushes all round as they looks to be the best and braided lines for brakes.

so over xmas I will get stuck in here is pic of front bumper I love it can wait to paint it all but first gona get dirty underneath as ground up build.

thanks all great forum and happy driving

Sounds like an awesome project. Will be watching closely. As for the rust treatment/prevention I would recommend the bilt hamber range of products. Also recommend shultz underseal.

Nobody listens they're going to take over I tell you.

Parts are coming in slowly but so busy at work with Xmas which is so annoying . Ordered a set of 4 axel stands of eBay so will review them when I get them. I have sold some of my weightlifting kit so I am putting a fund together for some coilovers, if I got springs I will only want coils after so will just get the real deal.

I have fitted some of those new wiper blades this week as they were on eBay for just over 5 quid ! They are really good the make is HQ Aero Dynamics.

Have also finished preping my wheels I brought so powder coating stuff soon.

What finish are you going for on the wheels? Gloss, Matt, satin.

i read  J03's Silver shed and was so worried mine would end up with rusty everything!  great work he is doing on that car. anyway it inspired me to crack on !!!!

a fair few rusty bolts and two were pigs to get out. but its all done

I did see that the steering joint is rusty as hell and I am sure everyone on here would change it so I will.
what's everyone's thoughts on the steering rack is it worth re furbing ? I will change the pipes as J03 did with new lines and that's done then.

the car suspension is rough as ten bears but the car is all ok and not bad so a good clean and some rust treatment and under seal and will be all good.

new hubs will be ordered Monday as I will remover from the knuckle and then of to powder coat.

So I live like 1 mile from Bonsai cars (what a very nice bloke) and he has a 1zz engine for sale and so after a lot of research and thinking and more research. I have decided I will not go 2zz but will get a second engine and turbo with liners and proper Pistons the engine was cheap ! So the 1000 to 1500 I would have had to fork out on a 2zz will be put into built motor .

This bit was along way down the line but I have now engine and can take my time and get it right and with bonsai down the road this should be good !

He is pressing out my old stuff from the wishbones so powder coat next week.

Also got hydraulic lines for the power steering sorted by another company right on my door step it's nice having a industrial estate ant the bottom of my road! He will keep the specs so you all can order that's the plan.

Some people have had poor service when sending theirs off for refurb.
If i needed to do mine again would either get a set from euro carparts/local motor factor or DIY.
There is a good diy write up somewhere.

Many thanks I am thinking at this time I will refurb my self as I can do it that way I can change it all with peace of mind. The rears I am going to drop down to Bonsai as they are bad and may just buy new with them.
