My Red pfl

Finally managed to get a couple of pics of the car when it wasn't raining

bought this car very, very cheap just before Christmas, sort of a present for my wife, and bit of a project for me to tinker with,

so far it has had the bonnet and bumper corners painted, I have a friend who has a little paint shop and does me great mates rates  s:) s:)  

had a new roof fitted at Swansea as the old vinyl one had a few splits and was looking very tired

new rear tyres as it was all over the place at any speed

it is going into my local Toyota specialist on Friday for a once over to have a look for anything that needs doing, fingers crossed it will be fine

future plans are to change the exhaust and to add some spats and skirts, but most of all to drive it and get out to a few car meets

Thanks for all the positive comments, she is a pretty looking thing and I will be enhancing it as I go along once everything mechanical is sorted.

I have been to my local Toyota specialist this morning so they could get it up on the ramp and give it a health check

good and bad news!!

good news is they of the opinion that I had a pretty good car what I paid for it, and a good base to improve on, that's a relief!

the not so good news:
I was complaining of not feeling confident in the cars handling, it was much improved when I had the rear tyres replaced recently, but still not right,
it turns out that the power steering pipes are leaking, they are very wet and the underside is covered in the fluid, this in turn has knackered the rack and pinion in the steering rack. A call to Mr T revealed a cost of £1000.00 + for a new one!!!  that's twice what I paid for the whole car!
So I will make a few calls today to see if I can source a good second hand or refurbed one.

Second thing on the list was a corroded sump that's going to need replacing at some point

And finally a small hole in the middle of the rear cross member, I have been reading on here that this is a weak point for the car, so that's an other job to get done before MOT time in June.

There isn't any other corrosion on the car but it was recommended to get the underside Waxoyled in the summer to preserve it for the future.

Now off to bother some MR2 breakers for parts.

Had a busy weekend doing some jobs on the car, had to replace the steering rack, lower uj and the power steering pipes.

I hadn't tackled anything like this before, so I'm quite chuffed to have been able to carry out all the work myself with a few instructions.

The difference is huge, the car is much more stable on the road, no more skittish behaviour.

Gave it a good clean and popped back into the garage, hopefully be able to get out over the easter weekend and have some fun in it.

Got around to fitting a replacement pair of seats over the weekend, some nice red and black leather ones

I think they look great and they are very comfy, just need some decent weather so I can go out in it!!

Was great from one end of the country to the other on Friday i know i drove 333 miles.
Wasnt too bad today either.
