Door trim

The edging trim strip/piping that runs round the outside of the leather panel on my door cards keeps coming unstuck and starts to fall out. Does it look OK just to pull it off or will that leave a big unsightly gap?

I'm tempted just to remove it but I don't want to pull it out and find it looks awful without it. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?
