That was my first guess. Pending seeing if the engine is seized
...neutiquam erro.

Pretty sure timing chain tensioner was set...I had to do it enough times.. Plus this was it's 3rd time on... It's just that it was it's first outing... Plus how did it last 15 mins driving??

Chain slap. It'll only hold so long.
The pistons will tell the tale.

Maybe just took that long for the tensioner to relax and when it finally did there was some slack somewhere, just enough to make the difference. Did you fit new slippers etc as well?

60% of the time it works everytime...

jvanzyl

I can see the exhaust side leaning towards the middle... Haven't stuck my fingers in to see what's what...

Was the exhaust sprocket loose, by any chance??.

The bolt has to be very tight or it will slowly come loose, sprocket wobbles, chain jams on sprocket....

Valves will have hit pistons, I'm afraid.

The exhaust sprocket was not attached.... when I opened it up it was at an angle.. I could not see the nut that was there before to hold it in place.
I went back and checked my videos and pics from when I was checking the timing and it was definitely on there before!

At least I know that this is not salvageable... ::)

Carolyn

Lots of good bits to go on the outside of another engine.

Get one from MAG, and we'll get it swapped.

Then you can leave the cam cover alone eh? ;D

Not wasted.

Cheers guys - I've been compiling research on the various options... nicely colour coded spreadsheet, which depicts via heat map: power, cost and reliability...

Well lets see, 23 days off since he started in October, late every day that he is in even though he only has to cycle one mile and I haven't seen him since last Wednesday since his falling out with his dad and going awol. Shame really as I actually had no problems with his work but he seems determined to self distruct. We seem to be digressing some what.

Is he young and British?
It's terrible to say but I find the chaps from Eastern Europe to be far more reliable.
Even if their work isn't always the best they turn up 7days a week.
