I was hunting around for some kind of rubber insulation to no avail.

Engine appears to be going great!
It's booked in for alignment on Monday 3pm so I'll transfer to summer tyres and take the hardtop off this weekend if can.

Then I'll be slowly amping up the beans giving!

Engine bay rattle resolved!

There's a fair bit of cabin vibration (hardtop on) so I'll take that off today hopefully..

On a side note I checked the oil level last night (having done 25 miles) and the dipstick was down to halfway..

Topped it up to full and will monitor closely... It might be down to the generally short runs I've been doing and the engine being used properly for the first time in years...

Give it a good spanking.

A 'dry fill' (one after a rebuild) is 4.1 Ltrs.  I suspect there was very little oil hanging around in the engine, so it's likely to need more than the 3.7.

Just looked up the 'dry engine oil requirement' according to Toyota.  4.2 Ltrs....  That's 1/2 a litre more than we put in.

There's no way it's burned 1/2 the dipstick range in 25 miles, so it's not level now or wasn't before. Or what Carolyn says.
Probably what Carolyn says :)

Car is on the level- I'm also going with what Carolyn says...

Has anyone ever cleaned a TRD panel filter?
Mine needs a clean before I put it back in- got the k&n cleaning stuff.. Don't know if that'll ruin it or not...

Bin it and buy a paper one that's my advice
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Cool!  Then we just didn't fill it up all the way.

I didn't dip it on the lift 'cos the car wasn't close to level.  I just topped up to 3.7

Got to work all fine! :) Hooray!

Car goes in for alignment today at Blackboots, I'll ask them to have a look at the rear right slow leak as well.

Never in doubt. Got any oil left?

I'll let you know later on when I check it! my gosh our roads are in bad condition...

jvanzyl

Let's see what they say this time with Camber bolts on correct!

Sitrep day 1 of commute.

Our roads are in a dire state! :-( made worse by possibly a bit too sporty suspension setup..

Anyway, oil level and coolant over the last 50 miles is good :-)

WIM may have put their prices up ... It was distinctly painful to have the full alignment done and the rear wheel rebeaded and balanced..

Apart from that I'm trying to keep an eye on stuff..eg my nice new boots on my CV joints..
How do you spot a leak if the grease is brand new and not yucky brown/yellow?

I'm guessing I should just wipe it down with degreaser and then see if it goes shiny again?

Degreaser sounds like a plan. Fingers crossed they're not leaking.

Is it me John or does that clip look a bit squiffy?

Funny, I thought that but was the same as you, thinking it was just my eyes. Squiffy or a bit too far off the boot?

I'm pretty sure it's on ok, I know it's not 100% dead straight, but there is room for a bit of an angle. It's the type where you glue the sides together so you don't have to take off drive shafts etc..

I'll try and get some degreaser on it in a couple of days time as I won't get a chance before then.

Other than that- commute this morning was fantastic! Properly gave it the beans!

I'm sure we're just being pedantic. I use the Screwfix No nonsense degreaser, it's solvent free and works really well.

50 miles, fluids ok, and running well.  And you've thrashed it a bit.

I'd say it's done!!

Try and enjoy it for a while without mucking around with stuff?

Now I WILL open that bottle.

Call the Midlife's suggestion of solvent free degreaser is best suited for the newly glued boots.
The old grease exiting in my "boots" I found on the undertray/ nappy, I believe it escaped from the drive shaft/ small end and ran down the shaft to be flicked off onto the nappy.
