In the process of installing replacement boots on the front dampers.

I noted the the bolts securing the damper to the hub had been previously fitted the 'wrong way'. On the MkII the advice was always to insert the bolts so that the head was towards the front of the vehicle. On mine today the offside was that way but the nearside was reversed. From the comprehensive history which came with the car there is nothing to indicate that the strut has ever been previously removed since being sold as new.

Any thoughts? Does it matter?

On racing cars, the rule was always threads on bolts point rearwards or downwards.  Just in case you loose a nut.
