Evening all, noticed a few times now when I've pulled the car out of the garage that there is a stain on the floor.  Done it today and the stain is still wet, quick taste test confirms it is coolant.  It appears to be coming from the block somewhere, certainly doesnt appear to be coming from the top end of the engine.  Anyone had this happen to them?

Have you tried thesearch function?

Cerainly not a commonly reported issue.

I have, lots of leaking roof issues and radiators.  Like you say, nothing relating to this.

It's a weird one, I have not heard of before.
How is the coolant level? Just trying to determine your usage at this point.

Where abouts on the block? Pulley end or gearbox end?
Then exhaust side or inlet side?

Coolant level is dropping slightly with use but not massively.   The stain is smack bang in the middle of the car, exhaust manifold side of the engine.  At first I thought it would be pipework at the very rear but it's a foot too far forward.  The cars just spent most of the winter on axle stands stripped to its bare bones at the back end while I replaced the sub frame and gave the rear suspension  a bit of a refresh and I didn't notice anything then.  Very odd.

Could just be one of the bleeder valves is shot. That's smack in the middle of the car underneath

Another possibility is a slow drip from the water pump bearing, landing on the lip of the pan, dribbling around and dropping off further away.  You should be able to see the pump from underneath with a light.  If it is the pump, there will be a small droplet hanging from it behind the pulley.  I had one of these...

I had a leaky rad and the water ran along the underside before dripping.

Could it be anything to do with the aircon system (if installed on the car).

ShnazzLe,  not a betting man but if I was I'd be going for this, certainly in the correct vicinity.   Radiator was brand new last year and no aircon so neither of those, it's definitely coolant anyhow so wouldn't have been the air con if I had any.   Could possibly be the water pump suggestion I suppose.   I will get it up in the air tomorrow and have a look.   Then start building a business case to present to the missus to justify putting a V6 in it!

Hahahaha mate that is flawless logic if I ever saw any.
"honey the car is leaking coolant. The only way to fix it is to put a V6 in it" . Car fanatic gold

I've been thwarted by sensibility twice so far.  First time I found myself with sufficient funds in the bank for the V6 I put it towards a house, although that did come with the aforementioned garage so not all bad and the second time was when I replaced my ageing lexus GS 300 armed with straight through 4 inch exhausts with a Saab 95.  I need to redress the balance at some point but for now I just need to stop it leaking!

It was the drain on the block under the exhaust manifold.  All fixed now, unfortunately as per my other post the clutch has packed up now!   s:-( :-( s:-(
