Hi all,

I'm trying to source inner and out cv boots for a 2003 MR2. Attempts thus far to obtain parts from aftermarket sources have been fruitless - the sizes of the parts supplied have been wrong. I've also tried Toyota for an inner and outer kit (part number 04429-17011) which costs £106 per side, but perhaps most disappointingly of all, there are no parts in the UK, therefore delivery wouldn't be until mid-August.

If anyone has a recommendation for a supplier to approach, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks!

You'll find this one is identical.  I know 'cos I've used a couple.  Sometimes you have to go by measurements and ignore the old 'compatibility' thing.  I'm sure if you contact these guys, they can supply inner and outer.

I hate to come over as a bit of a fan boy but Carolyn is usual right about these sort of things.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

It's weird that they don't fit.  They are not easy to install.  But, as I say I've used them before.  They have the three rubber lobes and the correct diameters.

Edit:  I'm not nearly as infallible as my fans might suggest.

I just measured the shafts on one of my cars.  The dimensions are correct.

Possible difference between PFL and FL?

Don't think so.... someone with a facelift might measure?  I know the engines and gearboxes are interchangeable, so there's no reason, I can see, why the driveshafts would differ.
All that's really needed is the diameter of the shaft.
'alackofspeed': perhaps you could measure the shaft diameter on you car?

There were definitely changes to the drive shafts over the life of production - in particular the shaft that runs across the block changed from solid to hollow.

I've found a few complete driveshafts for sale.  '2000 - 2006'  So it would appear.... anyway.  A simple measurement of the driveshaft in question should settle the matter.

Right.  Check this out. according to the list for this one, it fits all driveshafts from 1999  to 2007.  (Never seen a 2007 MR2).

I'm sure most people know about http://www.toyodiy.com - it's a great place to check part numbers.

Hi,

According to Toyota and First line, there are three different part numbers for the inner boot. I had a few outer cv boots in my loft from a previous car build, so have found a suitable outer. Having tried the various factors and online suppliers, the only certain option for the inner, is Toyota, so to save hassle that's what I've gone with.

I did try the boot linked to above, and the boot kinda fits, but the lobe geometry doesn't fit well enough for my liking.

Thanks for the input from all.
