Hi all,

I keep breaking the driver's side engine mount on track. To keep costs down, I've been replacing the broken ones with good second hand ones, which turned out to be a false economy, as I'm bored of replacing them now.

I ended up buying an Innovative polyurethane 60A shore to replace it, however it's no fun on the road with massively increased NVH.

I am therefore going to replace the innovative mount with a brand new OEM mount.

However, Toyota want circa £250 for one! Does anyone know of any pattern part (BluePrint etc) alternatives that don't cost the earth?

This is the mount I'm referring to:

Thanks all in advance! :)

Do you mind me asking how they're breaking, steel / welds / internal rubber?

I was going to pour an A70 liquid poly into mine, but after seeing this I might opt for A50 for a bit more give.

I've got a 2ZZ swap, which requires a different bridge mount to the engine, so it's not directly comparable.

I do drive the car pretty hard on track though, and they always break after a track day, never on the road.

Mine will be 2zz Rotrex so I'd like to add, let's say contingency strength, to the mount if it has a weak spot under extra load :)

How much would you want for the Innovative mount if you do come to sell?

That sounds serious!

The mount cost me £100, and has only covered about 15 miles, so is basically brand new. Happy to let you have it for £75 delivered.

That's a much better price from the UAE than from the USA.

Alex Knight

Thanks chaps.

I did spot the one on MWR, but the shipping was a lot of money.

The UAE one seems just the ticket, thanks ever so much for that. I'll get on it!

All the time in the world bud, car won't be on the road until next next Spring. Just give me a shout when ready.

This also happens with VX220s.. what people do is fit a polybush insert to the front engine mount, which limits movement on the side ones so they don't wear out. One guy just filled the mount with tiger seal to stiffen. Does increase vibration a bit though. Not sure if there's similar for MR2s.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Did you read my first post properly?

That's what I have now!
Sorry, missed that. But if OEM aren't holding up, you will need something more robust, which will probably be stiffer and give more vibration.  The TRD shown may be stiffer, but is listed as discontinued, so it may be hard (impossible) to find. So you options may be OEM that won't hold up, or stiffer mounts that cause more vibration

I did mention I had been using a succession of second-hand mounts with unknown provenance.

The new OEM mount turned up yesterday, so I'll see how I get on.

What about using a head steady that is setup to work side ways instead of forward/back?

Ok so I think it's a lateral head steady..
