FINALLY have some mods!  ;) ;)

55 plate late face lift, lowered in Yellow (same shade as the flowers I grow hence the name). A wedding anniversary present from my wonderful Hubby (@StuC) last year. Formerly one of @s12vea many cars. (Lily not Hubby.)

To date my mods are.....

Kick panels (fitted by 'imindoors)
HVAC knobs (fitted by me at Ding Day)

Mods I am considering .....
A way of securing my crutches when the roof is down, so the trim above the bins doesn't get scratched.
A way of carrying my wheelchair.

No Steve I STILL haven't dinged the rims that you had only recently refurbed. :D :D

Let the modding commence.
Do you want a luggage rack for the chair or would it be too much trouble?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Don't know yet. Still trying to get a realistic picture of my needs & limitations.

With a luggage rack I need to be able to lift the chair on and off without damaging any of Lilys paintwork. Also I would need some kind of elasticated cover to protect the chair from the rain. (Wet chair =  wet bum which is not nice.) There again towing the chair isn't really feasible. So some sort of luggage rack may be the way. Carolyns did pique my interest over the weekend.

Call the midlife!

I never clicked on at the weekend, I just thought you were moving Stu's around. I was that stressed out Friday night/Saturday morning I hardly looked at anyone else's cars but she's a beauty!
I noticed a rack on one of the Facebook groups earlier tonight.
But I wonder if some kind of modified/purpose built bike carrier type mounted on the rear towing eyes would be more user friendly?
Not so far to lift up and down and maybe easier to cover?
Or just take the passenger seat out and leave imindoors at'ome...

Really nice to see you both and my old car (yellow peril) at the weekend, I knew you would look after her and those immaculate fresh gloss black wheels.
It must be good having the best 2 on the drive  ;)

It is wonderful to have both the fastest (the estate car) and best looking (Lily) cars on the drive. :D :D

I am rather alarmed that @Call the midlife! couldn't see the difference between Banana & Lily. Perhaps an eye test is needed? :P

Hahahahaha! I just saw you driving a yellow car and didn't take much more notice, especially as I had no idea you had his and hers versions..😂
And as previously mentioned elsewhere, I barely and regretfully had chance to look at many other cars over the weekend...

Perhaps a hydraulic "aid" would be sufficient to get your wheelchair on something like Carolyn's luggage rack.

Much like a car boot lid. You have to lift them manually, but, it's easy to do so.
A bit of clever engineering on a set of folding hydraulics dampers and a clamp to help you lift the folded chair onto the rack?
...neutiquam erro.

@Custard Queen, iirc it was at last years Shin Ding South a Newbie MR 2 driver saw us all and stopped to chat. He was talking aboout a bike carier for his 2 and I believe it was @Mikeymead who suggested something from Spyderchat that was a bespoke bike carrier fixed via the rear tow eyes.
That would mean the chair would not have to be lifted so high, it would be relatively low cost and would be strongly attached.
Additional requirements would be a waterproof cover, and a number plate and holder as the one on the car would be obscured.

And Silentmiaow responded, this also gives a link to the US site-
Nicky B wrote in 2014:
OK, guys - I have a (cheaper/easy) carrier solution!
Using the US guy's idea...an engineering contact of one of my clients, Kevin, based in Hurst near Reading/M4, has made me 2 bars to fit the tow bar holes. He used one of my tow bars and sourced another locally....and, on clearing out the car recently, I seem to have 2 more left, anyway! The carrier's a standard Thule one, can't recall the model but will check if anyone wants to know.
Kevin (07507 738293) will make you the bars and lever thingy for around £65...you collect (unless he agrees to post them, didn't ask him about that!). Not sure if I'm legal or not, but at least I have the means now! And he said he could do a version with 'elbows' downwards and then outwards again, i.e. so the bike sits lower...he assures me it'll be strong enough!
In a rush so not time to figure it out...but if someone reminds me how to add photos, will bung up some on here!

Is this along the same lines as this jobbie?

http://forums.mtbr.com/car-biker/mr2-spyder-bike-rack-578072.html

As it's exactly what I'm looking to do, but haven't got my arse into gear to get quotes for the bars to be machined. £65 is v. reasonable & Hurst is not far from the folks house...

Joesson

So, I can't see the photos of the tow bar mounted rack on the US site, but to recap you will need to start with two two eyes and continue from there. Maybe the telephone contact for Kevin is still valid.
Let us know how it progresses.

Yes, I was spying your luggage rack. :D :D :D Love the fact that its clamped in place rather than bolted to the body. Noted that you can still open the engine lid with the luggage rack installed as that had been one of my concerns. Looked like you'd fitted it so well the rack wouldn't move - something else that I liked. You've done a really good job on it. :D :D I will keep it in mind.

Since DD I've been broken and have barely left the house let alone driven. So the assessing whether I could lift my chair up that high without damaging the paintwork has had to wait.

TBH I'm LOVING the idea of a bespoke carrier mounted to the tow eyes. Admittedly I haven't been able to process how it would work/ feasibility. Brain Fog is a nightmare ATM.

Lily is now safely home after some treatments with Rogue.

She has had her service.
New front pads and discs.
Aux belt changed.
Rust treatment on the rear subframe. She may well need a new one in the next year. 😟

Gonna make some space for her in the garage this weekend for her hibernation.
