Hard to visualise that one.  One colour not mentioned and (seemingly) unique - gloss black?

David had nixed that one.

Bright whore-house red??

As it is your vision, can you not dictate the colour? Lol

Yeah but, no but...

People can be very fussy about this stuff. I'll look into how much extra for custom colours perhaps....

Why did David nix black? I would think black would upset least number of peeps.

OK I'm a fan of smarty orange!
Silver, blue and flashes of smarty orange will do nicely thanks!!

Black, silver or blue would be my preference, but as long as it is not something super flashy, will be ok.

I visited my powder-coaters yesterday, and looked at the colour chart.  Then I asked which colours they kept in stock.  Bright orange was not one of them.

For such a short initial run we must go with that which is to hand.  So...

After much input from you all, and a bit more thought, it's either bright red or gloss black.  Please choose from those two options and express your opinion.  We will only be able to provide one colour.

On another note; below is a pic of my TRD front brace (which really DOES improve the handling of my car).  It's a close-up of one of the slotted holes.  You can see (if you look closely) that the bolt is at one end of the slot.  That's how the brace goes on my old car!!

Thanks for trying for the Orange Carolyn!
Guess it'll be gloss black from my side...

Hmm.. Torn between red and black... I'm going for black in the engine bay and frunk.

Good pic of the TRD slots. Mine is the same. Whatever it is. Allegedly a Corky or copy of. It's very very hard to get off because it's so tight on the bolts.

Glad you're at least giving the slots a little thought . Wouldn't the slot being maxed out on one side only be beneficial for turning one way not both ?

As to the TRD brace improving handling I agree it does , but with that I'd also say something is better than nothing .

We gave the slots a lot of thought.  Why would you think we didn't?  The fact is, there are no witness marks providing evidence that the bar has moved in its slots.  It's been on there several years, if there had been movement, there would be corresponding wear and evidence thereof. None are present.

Please don't respond with further argument.  You've made your point.

We disagree, can we, please leave it there?

I'd just like to politely point out that you brought it back up not me . It was not an argument just a question !!

And yes we disagree and I can leave it at that !

Carolyn

So, back to powder coating.

Gloss black it is.

I have a suggestion believe it or not and it's just a suggestion that work well for me . When I was selling Crash bars I would offer them 2 ways , bare metal if they wanted a color other than black and that way they didn't have to pay for PC.or they could buy it PC'd black for an upcharge , that seemed to make everyone happy . Also the PCer I was working with shot black almost everyday so he gave me a good price whether I had one or twenty at a time . That probably wouldn't happen if it was any color but black .

Carolyn

I'd say that's a plan!  Especially if we do a bigger batch.

Right now, we're only doing six, to see how they go.

So we're taking the Henry Ford approach for now.

If it goes over well, then an un-coated option might well be a winner.

This fabrication lark is hard and dirty bloody work, isn't it?

Yes it is , welding is probably the worst !!

I know Henry preferred gloss black but I think semi-gloss actually looks better , can't see the imperfection as easy .
