Thank f#*k for that.

You'll need to get an ecu and keys from one of our breakers.  You should be able to swap key innards over so locks aren't a problem.

Use that ECU for now while you get that sorted.

Yippeeee!!

Well done for sticking with it.

How many pennies has that saved you eh? :)

Well done you for sticking with it. Exactly the right attitude for what was a decently complicsted scenario with an unlikely outcome.
...neutiquam erro.

Well done everybody, including Stag....pretty damn good for a 20 year-old.  I couldn't offer any advice, but followed with interest.
Does he need to get a JDM ecu?

Carolyn

Not really.  I sent him a JDM one to avoid immobiliser issues, while we were figuring it out.

He's got a Euro car, so a Euro ECU would be ideal - slightly different tune.

Plan on sticking around, got the story on how the og engine blew up in the first place, got some pictures worth sharing.

It does have a check engine light we need to sort. Still getting a link error when using my obd reader but we will get there.

You'll need a JOBD reader!!

There's a line of code you can add to your car's profile in Torque Pro, that lets reading happen.

A standard OBDII won't read that ecu.

So log as it's running fine, don't worry about the light (probably an O2 sensor heater).

You can sort that when you get a Euro ECU.

Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you the JOBD instructions.

I have been following this with interest.
What a splendid example of Club camaraderie and knowledge from all those involved in tracing the problem and @Stag for working through the suggestions.
As @StuC said we are so fortunate that @Carolyn  decided upon a 2, joined the ROC and shares her knowledge.
All I can add, having seen the "She's alive" photo, is that being parked on such a steep hill likely upset the fluid levels.

Carolyn

Stop it you lot.  It was a group effort.
