So, when parked in neutral, push accelerator down, goes up to around 6K revs, drops down to 4K and get black smoke from the exhaust as if it's over fueling.

This is a very "out there" one but there's nothing fouling your throttle pedal/cable is there? My floor mat once found it's way over the pedal and wouldn't let me give it full beans.
60% of the time it works everytime...

No, it's engine related, it revs or tries to initially, then drops down to 3k it's fueling as if you got the pedal down (hence black smoke, petrol smell and black sparkplugs (2 months old)) with an obd reader connected it shows misfires across the cylinders because they're getting too much petrol (I believe). 🤔

Thanks John I'm only on 70k with this one, can't give up on it yet 😥 think when it does go it will be time for a 2zz 🙃

Sounds like a sensor issue.  I can send you a crank sensor and a cam sensor... Known working ones.

My favorite CPS issue was a Tach Reading with the Key on, and the engine not running..  Ended up Strapping a 2K resistor across the Input to the ECU leads, and the problem went away..  Car ran better too!

What is the coolant temp sensor reading on the scanner? Fuel trims? Possible vac leak..

I can get them checked, could you advise what they should be?
I have a friendly mechanic who does most my work for me, unfortunately this is his first 2 to work on.

I've got to ask, how did you end up getting some 75mm tubing that badly kinked???🤓

Right, got you, I've got two lengths of that running from my side scoops into areas of the engine bay so know how easy it is to crush. But they're not connected to anything, just ran it in before I bonded the side scoops on, the mushroom filter is hard piped with silicone sleeves.

Fair play to you for fessing up, you can have my trophy from last year.👍🏻
