Anyone fitted one of these? Worth the hassle? or better sticking with standard throw? (or perhaps a different kit etc)

No experience of the MR2 Ben version but TRD used to make a great one.
Some short shifters are better than others.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I just had a peek at it.... very basic.

It is still possible to get a TRD one from Japan, I believe.  Expensive, though.

I listed a heads up just the other week. From The Netherlands; on Marktplaats.

The cheap shortshift kits work better on 5 speeds than 6 speeds I think or maybe thats just my different 5 speed box now? It wasnt great on the standard 6 speed box when I fitted mine but works better on the different gearbox.

The TRD ones work well apparently but they are very expensive usually now.

Some people have modded their own lever to move the move the pivot on the spline to try to produce a similar result.

Well that's reassuring as I have a 5 speed, it's not a lot of money so I'll give it a punt and report back

Don't lose the star washer when you take it off!

I fitted one of these to my six speed. It works well. The only complaints are that it doesn't have the kink of the original so the lever sits about an inch further forward. This makes it a touch farther away than I'd like and it can look like it's in first when it's actually in neutral.

It's also obviously a heavier change than standard but I rather like that. I don't think racers use them for these reasons but for pleasure use I like it.

The aluminium mounts (replacing rubber) that come with it make a huge improvement to the shift and worth the money on their own.

For the RHD car's there is an other option as well

Got one from the group buy.
But didn't like it since my car is LHD, got an awkward angel, probably original design for RHD

super-klasse makes a version for LHD, "C's / TRD "Hybrid" Short Stroke Shifter"  Having driven a car with their "C's Short Stroke Shifter Reproduction", the TRD hybrid moves the shifter to the left and has even shorter throws.  Yet the effort isn't much different from a TRD.  It works fine with a 6-speed.
