 The engine sound is louder particularly the intake sound from the cabin but the valve train sounds are generally not that much louder from what I have experienced by having someone go into lift at idle and observing in the engine bay. However there is a lot more wear associated with the high cam lobes and corresponding pads that wear out as they do take a beating which where the 2ZZ is prone to wear if you do not use an oil with an aggressive anti wear package or the clearances are too tight.
