Weather strip

I need to replace the weather strip that goes up the A pillars and over the windscreen on my car.  Can anyone advise me what needs to come off to do this?  I have watched a video on Youtube that says the soft top brackets on the windscreen surround need to come off.  Is this true?  As I don't fancy striping the hex bolts an having to force them off.  It looks like a previous owner has already had a go at one of them.
Are there any other things to watch out for?
