they stiffen up the chassis

directly underneath the centre of the car you'll find 2 flimsey bits of metal. The corkies plate replaces these with one large plate.

Corky doesn't have any at the mo but he does do GB's once in a while over on spyderchat.com

just reading all your reviews and seem realy good,  aint realy done much topless driving with the 2 yet as got it with a hard top, so are you saying there is a big difference once the hard top is off??   and does the corky make it feel like hard top is on again?

Back one page.........

Quote from: "tem"I remember someone saying that his car felt very flexy when he took the hardtop off, but with the antiflex plate it felt like the hardtop was back on

Yep, completely agree. I am Mr Non-Mod and even I have to admit that its definitely the first thing you need to do to your car if its Pre-03.

I might have one for sale if and when the Elise purchase goes ahead..........give me a couple of weeks..............

Also might have some fitted bags too, but thats another thread.........  s:roll:  s:roll:

im considering this but i see the last post on the group buy in spyderchat was last august, are these still available?

rmowbray

Quote from: "rmowbray"Yep,

I asked Corky this question yesterday he does have them available. Log on to Spyderchat & you'll find his thread in the Commercial Sales forum. They cost a bit more than £75 though, $135 + $40 shipping to UK (plus import taxes & VAT).

is there no where you can get them cheaper from the uk or europe as with the postage its maybe bit pricey for me just now

well there is nowhere else to to get those from as they are made by corky.

Cusco make one and there is a companay (name eludes me) who make them in italy, however corkys builds on all teh previosu attempts, and improves them.

to be honest for a nice thick piece of aluminium, with diagonal welded bracing (welding aluminium si a specialist skill) it's a bargain.

The company in Italy is http://www.lmcorse.com/. The chap i dealt with was called Claudio and very helpful. Nicely fabricated piece of kit. Does exactly the same job as Corky's.
Was very effective in improving my 2's road manners, it's a 2000 model, so really benefitted from this mod.  s:) :) s:)

Here is a pic of the lmcorse plate alongside the OEM item.

I think the aluminium is 6mm thick.

Quote from: "DavidM"Sorry to resurrect this old thread but fitted my Corky's saturday night and the difference is nothing short of amazing. Even Deb noticed that my 2 seemed more rigid. Due to it being wet out yesterday I've not really had chance to throw my 2 about but I'm sure it will enhance the drive.
What took me so long to get one of these.
Oh and I was surprised at the "bits of tin" Toyota fit as standard...

First dry day since I fitted my Corky's, so took the 2 for a spin and the handling is so much sharper feels amazing  s:D :D s:D
If your thinking about getting one, stop thinking and start buying

Ok i will do, just signed up now.

just been reading the posts and someone says the plate will affect insurance is this true?   s:? :? s:?

Technically yes, as it's a modification and should be declared to your insurance company.

Whether you want to tell them is up to you. If the worst happened, would they look under the car and be able to tell that it's not a stock part? Possibly not, but if they do then your insurance is invalid and you're screwed.

FWIW, I declared mine.

may do over there, over here my insurance only noted it as it had no increase on Bhp. No premium increase applied. But do phone your insurance before and check
