2 Questions, Help Please

1. Has anyone ever used or come across a Toyota Specialist called First Choice Toyota in Warmley, Bristol?

Are they any good? was thinking of using them for servicing and repairs rather than the stealer an may get my Pre-CATs gutted one my warranty gets to the end.

2. Had a nasty close encounter with a gritter lorry which was compounded by a slow 4x4 sitting in the fast lane chucking up grit at me. has left me with a few small dinks on my Blue 51 plate roadster.

I now have a couple of little dents and dings on my paintwork that needs a touch up. (one chip took the paint right off!) Can I get a chip stick or something from halfords or the like to give these a quick touch up? Recommendations?

I've got a similar question to yours, when I got my 2 it came with a small tin of touch up paint. I've also now got a few small chips from the motorway just wondered if its ok just to touch them up with a small brush??

I got touch up from Toyota, only about £6. That way you get exact paint match. Chipsticks won't match and are RUBBISH!

Also the proper one comes with a clear coat varnish as well. Do it very carefully (lots of thin coats rather than one big one) and you will hardly notice - well as long as you are a couple of feet away!

the 2's seems to have very thin paint and chips if you look at it, let alone if its subjected to a gritter, my recomendation on this would be to get it done properly, go to a paint shop and get them to sand it and respray, not what you want to hear but this is the only way to get the finish back to new

Thanksfully the damage isnt bad enough that I would worry about paying paintshop prices. Looks like a touch up kit from the dealer would be the best option and leave me happy.

A reputable "Autopaint" can knock you up a good match in bigger quantities if you ever need it in the future. They can also do it in aerosol, but this is more shaky on the match (??something to do with the propellant??).

And if you're a lazy s*d like me, look out for some stuff called Langka. Its great for smoothing down diy repairs - just blob the paint on and rub it down with Langka when its cured.

It's much easier to repair when you haven't got metallic. s:D

bugger knows, i was just going to get a blow over this year to help with the chips, but then 43K of main roads and motorways has left mine extremely pitted s:cry: :cry: s:cry:

I've been quoted about £1K for a respray, and about £3-4K for a colour change.

Not cheap, but as Stu says it's the best way to get it done perfectly.

mines is ok weasel but was just wondering as my mates red 2 is getting badly faded and think he wants change of colour

I have never been that successfull using Langka s:? :? s:?

I've had some duffers too, but it seems to work better if you give it more time to cure than the instructions suggest. I usually do it the next day. 75 minutes isn't enough time to dry a blob s:wink: :wink: s:wink: s:o
