Hello all,

Just got back into an mr2 after selling the last one 5 years ago. Having a great time but the alarm is always going off! It's a jap import and seems to need a fob to actually start it. This isn't much of an issue but the alarm is very loud and if I don't start the car after disabling the alarm, within about 20 seconds I can hear it resetting and arming itself to which it then sets it off again. Anyone know how to stop this? Thanks

You might struggle for help with it being a import, - different alarm from UK cars.   It might be prudent to check you have nice high battery voltage.

Take the siren out.  It serves no real purpose as sirens are simply ignored anyway.  If it's got a Thatcham alarm, the sensitivity can be adjusted.  The unit with the adjustment is usually under the centre console.

One thing worth checking if the alarm keeps going off is all the rubber booted switches on the doors, engine compartment and frunk are not sticking/dirty contacts. I had an issue with my alarm going off constantly, but it would come and go from time to time over several years. After much head scratching I realised it was worse when the car was in strong sunlight. The heat made my frunk panel move just enough to open the switch and set the alarm off repeatedly.

It would help if you told us what kind of alarm it is.
