After reading http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32097 and learning that the standard facelift 16's can be successfully fitted on all 4 corners I have got hold of another pair of 16's and I am about to have a refurb on all 4 (looking at diamond cut face with anthracite insets).
When the wheels go back on I'm wanting to buy some new [wheel] nuts as the stock nuts are looking tired and i've lost all the locking nut covers. I have been trawling a famous 'marketplace' and found a couple of options, but wanted to ask whether anyone has had good/bad experience with these (or even non-Toyota nuts), also what do I need to look out for and any general tips please?

I see M12 x 1.5 appears to be the size.
- Can tapered nuts be used with the stock Toyota 16" wheels (I'm thinking stock nuts are rounded ends)?
- Do different torque settings apply, as the D1's suggest?

dont use tapered nuts or as some know of them as tuner nuts. if your using stock wheels and want to buy new nuts them go to ctp for them. tapered nuts do not grip the wheel well enough ie design for aftermarket wheels. also not sure if it is poss but u might be able to get your current ones replated.

Yeah, there should be a plastic / chrome type cover for the locking wheel nut.

They have little chrome hex shaped covers that make them look a bit like short nuts!! s:lol: :lol: s:lol:
I recently bought a set of Genuine Toyota locking wheel nuts for the 2 , ( cos the originals were a bit scruffy ) and did'nt get any covers with them ! s:? :? s:?
they apparently changed the design and the new ones don't have covers.
The type with the rotating collar and 3 holes for the special socket to locate in, should have covers.
I try and take mine off prior to having any tyre related work done as invariably they will get lost at the garage and they do look a bit naff and rusty without a cover.
Any more thoughts on suitable replacement nuts for the standard wheels?

hard to explain on here but a tapered nut needs to have a tapered holes on the wheel. stock wheels are a flat nut design. team dynamic wheels are aftermarket wheels so tapered nuts be fine.

One further question - I am after some black nuts to go with my new team dynamics - if I were to go for the 'D1' nuts, would I need the short or long version, or is it purely cosmetic?
(Great if anyone could recommend some better/cheaper alternatives)

Alright Steve,
It hasn't happened yet s:( :( s:( . I started talking by e-mail to a company in Huddersfield called 'the pit stop' as they were recommended to me. They certainly do specialist full wheel refurb and they aren't the cheapest. The chap there hadn't done Roadster wheels as a diamond cut face and said he needed to see them in the flesh to ensure it could be done - so I need to get myself over there.
If/when it happens I'll let you know.
