Sold 2 standard ht in different colours to get this, which is due for collection next Saturday (3rd Sept)

Whether it works out any better for us two, who do struggle to fit a standard ht is unknown, but it's 12 kg lighter. Also we plan to use just this on each of the cars, depending on the nature of the journey re distance,weather conditions etc.
My other 1/2 Eirlys really is a 'weakling' ;) < but I didn't write that!!
Looks alright from the photo. A reservation i had when you first mentioned getting one was that for ease of manufacture it might come with a small rear screen more like the soft top has, as i like the extra vision the hard top offers....

It's a good job we didn't wait for this to be finalised....although tbf it was the delay in getting the perspex, not the actual cf roof. Yes visibility from this looks to be ok
Wow, 12 kg is a lot. I could fit that on my own easlity. Did the OEM one solo too but asking for help is less iffy than asking for trouble ::)
Since you have several MR2s, I suggest you take one softtop entirely out and mount this one ´permanently´ using Snelbaard´s fittings.

Without roof lining or the rear perspex option the weight saving would have been 19kg ;D , the idea of interchangeability is the reason for ditching multiple hardtops, so to permanently mount would defeat that purpose Petrus, but it takes all sorts ..... variety of deed and opininion is 'the spice of life'

Ok, get it.
With about half the weight it should be a one person job. Just put a beach towel over the rear deck. Depending on how long your reach is, open the door at the side you are manouvring from.
The carbon will look nice against yellow 8)
Not sure how smooth the finish is .
Just have this vision of using a couple of glass vacuum sucker handles.

That price doesnt sound too bad when you think what a 20 yr old fibreglass one fetches!
If you have to have one, this looks like the way to go.
So what makes this special compared to a gutted standard top?
Pretty sure most of the weight savings is from not having the OEM glass window, where else the does weight saving come from?
The OEM fibreglass alone (without seals, sound deadening, lining etc) can't possibly be much heavier than prepreg CF sheets and resin.
I don't know where the 12kg comes from and how much of that is lexan vs glass; and where the additional £1k difference goes to.
On looks though alone I think it's very cool. I like exposed CF parts contrasting against body colour.

Q&d calculation gives 3.5 kg approx.
The rest is likely mainly less material as the OM is :o thick/sturdy. Same thing less primer/paint.
Lastly woven matt is stronger than random matt so less is needed.
The ´carbon´ is finish as it is not ´proper´ autoclave finished.
Price seems reasonable to me indeed.
I asked the guy (Tomasz) who is engaged in the manufacturing of them to comment here in response to some of the comments made, some of which are erroneous.
some eg are price. The price of a vastly inferior Toyota oem hardtop was similar 20yrs ago, allow for inflation what would that be costed at now?
rear oem glass isn't particularly heavy, compared with the lexan used in this instance - he estimates 1.5-2kg weight saving here.

Specific weight of lexan is 1,2 vs 2,5 for glass.
Aaaaanyway. Imo your 8) looing lightweight roof ís proper light and none too costly.

You dó understand that you will have to drive accordingly no?! I mean carbon fibre roof is M4, Yaris GR territory; serious driving machines ;)
Rather like that, for a proper carbon part the price is very reasonable too. Have to follow up on what the fitment is like.
