Light change?

Incase any1 flames me i have had a quick look through site but cant find anything so i'll ask the question....

my friend no longer wants his 2003 mr2 :O (shocking i know)

he has New shape tail/headlights and is willing to swap them for my older 2000 model lights for a little drink.

All this is assuming it can be done.... can u change the lights on both cars?  Im guessing no1 has really tried older lights in a new model, but im sure some1 must have tried the newer lights in old model.

Any advise would be most appreciated, except the funny type.

The rears are very simple IF he has the harnesses, the fronts require a minimum bit of wiring
