Jdl Kit advise please

I want to buy this end of next week at £650 from occial site so i get fittings and front difuser etc.

The advise i want is.. is a nightmare to fit cause ive heard people having trouble and also is a damage magnet also with it being so low?

I only have the rear spoiler from this kit, and the amount of work the sprayer is having to put into that is significant, bearing in mind its modest size. Be interesting to see what owners of the entire kit have experienced as well.
Funky power have their one and they obviously have a bit of experience with this kind of work, be interested to hear what they think of the kit quality.

As you can see from my picture i already have the Larger Jdl spoiler and my painter said the same.... that it was a total nightmare lol. Hopefully some1 has it that can point us in the right direction.

I am shortly fitting a JDL front bumper and spiltter to my 53 reg car. So i'll let you know how i get on. The car at the moment has a pre facelift front so i wanted to update the look. I wasnt too keen on the JDL bumper i think it looks a tad 'OTT'. However i couldnt pass up an ebay bargain. Would have preferred a top secret as they look much more designed for the car and the fit is rumoured to be perfect.

I had the full kit fitted about 18 months ago.
The front and rear bumpers fit fairly ok, but need quite a bit of 'stretching' to get em into position, unfortunately this means that you can see a slight crease after being painted (only noticeable when you look closely though!).
The side skirts were apparently a complete nightmare and my fitter had to do some major cutting and shaping in order to get them to fit.
Also I now have some slight 'bubbling' on the rear and am not sure if this is due to a bad bit of painting or the kit 'raising' slightly.
As to the ride height - well it is pretty low and you do have to slow RIGHT down when you go over speed bumps and go over with the wheels rather than trying to straddle the bump, but other than that I havent had a problem. I wouldnt put this kit on if your car is lowered tho!

Nope i havent got it yet....Its down in Ramsgate Kent and i am in East Yorkshire..!!  s:roll: :roll: s:roll:   Plan to go down on the Saturday after the bank holiday to pick it up. Prob trial fit the weekend after.... then into the paint shop. So realistically 3 weeks time. Hope its a bit higher than the last one (MSD) as i managed to trash that in less than 2 months....sigh

The fitting takes a lot of time if you want to get it spot-on. I spend quite some time with mine...

Mine is lowered with D2 coilovers and its sitting fairly low and it is driveable height-wise. D2 just is really tight suspension so it keeps the bumper away from bowing deep on braking situations. Not very comfortable though.

You propably havee seen pics of mine here but if not, just search on my name and you'll come across with orange one and you see the ground clearance on mine.

Skirts were easy peasy and the rear bumper while not needing any trimming is indeed a tiny bit stretched - there's a couple of stress lines on mine I must say.

But 650? That's a fair whack of dosh for this kit imho - have you shopped around? Try mad motors. I got a trade discount mind, but it came outsignificantly cheaper than that, so 650 seems very steep!

Hiya mark, thats delivered by the way. Even ebay is only £600 shipped. But ebay dont have fittings. You still think thats expensive? if so can u get us another one and i give you cash  s;) ;) s;)

Get the TRD lip kit and spend the rest on decent suspension mods and wheels.

If you really do want a kit, check out these guys, put you in touch with the guy who runs it.

It's expensive for what it is...but yeh I guess there isnt another option.

Was cheaper even on ebay when I bought mine!

Damm inflation :@. Ive got 1k to spend on in and im in so many different minds its driving me mad lol. people saying lower it and K&N induction kit it etc and some saying get that kit and some saying chip it etc. ! thing i have done so far is ive booked in 10year service wednesday at romford toyota  s:) :) s:) , thats 100% lol.

Lol your pissing money down the drain taking it to Toyota, take it to a specialist.

Personally id look to get some decent wheels and some coilovers, I reckon you could prob do it i you look for a used set of jap shoes and a set of bc coilovers.

Kits are good, but if not done right can look shoddy, also they start to age pretty bad. When I bought my first car it had a genuine trial kit, I had it a year and  really went off the styling, and got pissed off catching it on everything lol.

I think im getting old now, but a stock bodied  subtle kitted car wins hands down I think. Turn it into a track toy. I can't talk though, my cars mostly made of fibreglass   s:lol: :lol: s:lol:

already got momo corse wheels  s:) :) s:) . thats one of the main things putting me off the kit catching in on everything. Ill let you all know and post pictures next week on what i decided.
