Lower the steering column, and then grasp the instrument cover either side of the rev counter, and pull... No tools required.

Just asking so if you put your smt in reverse
And hit a car behind you becouse you dont
No your in reverse and not in first gear,
That in thory makes you responsible,

When there car get fixed and yours does not
Becouse you cut a safty feature from the car.

That means your are driving your car without
Valid car  insurance when you drive becouse of
A cut off wire.

Trust me in a accident they go over your
Car with a toothbrush.

Also with the new mot laws in the uk
If the mot place notice there no bleep it
 A mot failure.

Infact even a accedent anybody fault your
Not insured, becouse you diabled a safty feature
That there for your safty.

I am very sure that your insurance company
No that feature is active in your car.
And if you need to use your car insurance
There no it been disabled

This makes sencse to me becouse we have to
Inform the insurance ppl of any mods we add to
Our car sometimes our premiums go up for the
Mod to be added so i dont see how you can cut
Away a safty feature with out you invalidating
A insurance policy.

Is all this correct or all rubish my own
Written thory.

Inform the insurers of the modification and assuming they cover it, it's not a problem.

Thanks

Every car in the world warns you it's in reverse, when you start slipping the clutch it moves ... backwards!
You shouldn't be charging off backwards anytime to catch yourself out anyway, the beeper is the only one I've ever come across in a passenger car so the rest of the world seem to get on quite happily without it.
Cute & fluffy animals were definitely hurt during the production of this post, there're plenty more where they came from

Suppose I want to add this beeper to my 2000 6 speed 2ZZ?
Could I just find a reverse light output and run it to the pin everyone is talking about?

Just had a play and if you fit a facelift spec dash pod to your pre-facelift MR2 and add a wire she beeps at you.

Anyone else try Jon H's method of silencing the reverse beep?  Does it work?  And does it leave the reverse indicator light and other beeper functions intact and operable?

Unplugging the underseat connector probably disables the air bag.

I must admit the beeper saved me a few times when i first bought the 2.......its the only one of the four cars we have here with the reverse in the top left,i' m used to it now but found it easy to go into reverse instead of first.

My problem now is not going into sixth on the other cars  s:lol:  s:lol:

Hi ya. Old thread I know but just wanted to add my 2 piece for any that cares to know.

Firstly the underseat sockets control the two seatbelt lights respectively. They do not stop the reverse beeping. Not sure about the airbags, and wouldn't want to find that one out anyway. I left the socket in obviously.

You CAN remove the beeper itself (actual name: Pizzo buzzer) from the dashboard circuit and it WILL silence the beeping altogether without affecting any of the dashboard lights which are lit by tiny Toshiba V2 spec bulbs (also removable). However doing this will also silence any other noises that the car makes including leaving the lights on, door open et al..

So proceed with a bit of caution. It's a safe and easy mod  but if you're a bit on the forgetful side you might want to leave this one alone. Personally I couldnt stand that bloody beeping when reversing. Fockin maddening.

alternatively you can stick a bit of blue tac or gum in the buzzer and that should do the trick.

Plus it's reversible. D'oh!

I cut the wire and installed a resistor and capisator, now I only get one beep.

There's two explanations here. (I know which one I prefer)
