I think a hardtop would help finish the theme.
Happy to do a photoshop if someone supply's a nice high res pic of a bluey.
Then I can show a few options.

I agree, with a hard top I think it could work, although the soft top does pose a slight challenge.

On the subject of stripes though a google search revealed this, looks good...


But also this, not so good (needs a photoshop lesson from you Stu)...


However I did also find this which I quite like...

I quite fancy a single stripe that runs from behind the badge.

That's great,  if you have time can you show it with slightly narrower twin stripes,  but I think these would be harder to do with the engine cover vents.

3 even size blocks of colour? i.e. white, blue, white
or narrower blue stripe?

Have to say I agree just not my cup of tea think stripes detract from the lines of the car IMO
