Loss of Power

So driving home from work last night the car lost power each time i changed gear,so much so that i had to change
back down,when it picked up speed i changed gear only for it to lose power again,persevered with the car in the higher
gear and it picked up again.Plenty of fuel in the tank,no dash lights on,none even flickered.
     Went out in the car tonight and all is fine again,took it out for a good 45 minute drive lots of gear changing and its
back to normal.Any Idea's Welcome.

Worth putting a code reader on it to see if there is a stored code.
I'd probably clean the MAF just for peace of mind.

Thanks for replies......wasn't able to do anything with it today due to rain.Will have to
check it out on my next day off which isn't until Sunday.Many Thanks
