New owner with a LOT to learn!

Hi there.  I am the very proud new owner of a 02 roadster but need some advice...
On the underside of the footwell on both sides are two holes about the size of a 10p piece. I assume these are for drainage? but on the drivers side there seems to be exposed metal where it looks like a part is missing.
Here's where I need your help. How best to repair this? Can i get a grommet or some such to fix the problem?
Thanks for your help and apologies if I sound like a numpty! I'm new to car maintenance but looking forward to learning and getting stuck in.
