Plugged the OB2 reader in for a giggle to see what codes would come up, even though the EML light wasn't on, I though that it might have been removed or taped over etc for an engine that's done 162K+


Not a damn thing! I am amazed at the engine. Top marks to the previous owner who serviced it himself!

More proof that there is nothing wrong with 1zz if properly serviced.

Like most things if they are maintained correctly you will have very little problems.

Just read this from start to finish, great thread and exciting times!!

It's interesting to read you never really bonded with the Elise, would love one of these, but a) can't justify the cost for an occasional weekend car, and b) think the flimsy build quality would irritate me!

Looking forward to hearing all about your thoughts on your 2 when it comes back with a V6 in it!!   s:) s:)

Thanks Felix, they're great cars, the feel is surreal through the steering wheel and they look better than almost every car on the road, and they're probably cheaper than an mr2! Initial price is high, but they're only appreciating so you'll probably make money! Anyway, off the Elise and onto the 2!  s:) s:)  

Good news and bad news!

Good news, cars arrived safe and sound! On the lift and within a few hours, engine is out! Very quick work, didn't think he would have it out already!

Tadaaaaaa! Not a horrendous amount of rust! It's underway!




The bad news, when I bought the car, I checked the hpi and asked over and over, has the car been in an accident or any damage to any parts. Apart from the high mileage, I couldn't find examples of "bad driving". After a couple of weeks of ownership and a clean, I noticed the rear bumper slightly skew, and it looked like it had been knocked, forward on to the below picture.



Crash bar has been bent slightly, which is the reason for the bent bumper. It doesn't look bad, I would imagine a small reversing into something or a slight tap on the back. Pauls going to look into and hopefully fix it which is very good!

Time for the engine bay to be painted. What colour schemes do you think would look good. I think black chassis engine bay and then with blue accents such as the engine cover and pipes etc? Would that look ok?

I think you should have the engine bay body colour to make the changes look more oem.

I think gold and blue works well together but you want something noticeable when you lift the bonnet!
