Rattle / clonking front - blown shock?

Did a trackday this Saturday and noticed on the drive back that there was a rattling / clonking coming from the front of the car somewhere, you could feel it coming right through the pedals.

When I took a look it seems like the right hand shock has burst, there is oil all down it so I'm assuming this is what's causing the rattle? I've never heard a shock do that before? It's not all that surprising that its burst the car has done 99k miles and I'm guessing they are the originals.

So obviously I need to replace the front shocks, the springs also look fairly corroded so need to them aswell and the drop links will need replacing as they will need to but butchered to get everything apart. Next question is where an earth can I find standard mr2 roadster front shocks springs and dampers apart from Toyota themselves? I have zero interest in putting any aftermarket dampers / springs that are bright yellow on.... but I don't really want to go to Toyota as it's going to cost me a fortune.

KYB manufacture a very good shock and spring. I am led to believe they also manufacture for the OEM. If you are wanting genuine you could try MR2Ben up in Queensferry.

Personally if your taking the car on the track, get involved with the coil over GB. If your front springs are shot chances are you will need the top mounts and insulating rubbers which will cost another £70.

I realise you can not see the sales posts as you have less than 30 posts, but there are some lowering springs forsake at a very reasonable price

Its a no brainer if you are a track day fan get on the Meister R group buy.
If not get Kyb shocks and some lowering springs like Tein to help firm up the suspension.
Or if you want to keep near to oem as possible  get the kyb set.
Go for the meister r for the money you wont regret it.
