What is the best treatment for a dirty fabric soft top

Bought a Saab convertible as main car recently and the black roof is in good nick but filthy and has the dreaded green algae on it. Any tips, I've only previously dealt with vinyl roofs?

One classic car trader I know uses Woolite to clean fabric soft tops

Thoroughly wet the hood, use the woolite and a traditional scrubbing brush, then rinse well with water
They even do one for dark fabrics
