Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the USW8 subwoofer is any good?

I would be intending to mount it under the driver's side dashboard.

Thanks

Well I'm very pleased with my usw10, so can't see why the usw8 would be a disappointment
...neutiquam erro.

+1 on the USW10. Mounted under the steering column

Thanks, I've ordered a USW8.

I don't suppose you can remember what size nuts fit on those bolts next to the OBD2 port under the dash?

Cheers

Edit. I think they're 6mm threads.

The majority of fastenings up under there are M6, just be mindful of the end of the brake lever when you're placing.

It's also worth getting nyloc nuts, or using threadlock as they 'can' rattle loose - I found out the hard way. Too much bass from the sub makes loose nuts  :D :D

Absolutely! And if not, put in a very thick rubber washer and a locking washer

Will do, thanks again guys.

Do I need to use (splice off) the blue power aerial wire to switch the sub on when the HU powers up?

Depends. If you are using High Level Input (ie speaker wire to the powered sub) then no - The sub will pick up speaker signal and automatically switch on and off

If you are using RCA (the preferred method) then yes, you will need the blue remote turn on too

Great thanks, yes I'll be using RCA.

Thanks everyone for all the assistance.

Been thinking about fitting something similar since I got my car.

I have a Kenwood aftermarket DAB HU that I've fitted last year, would an active sub come with all the necessary wiring and instructions for an 'average joe' to fit themselves??
current: Astral Black FL

Ex: Forest Green 2003.

Depending on which Kenwood HU you've got it's just a matter of getting some RCA cables and plug and play if you went for the Kenwood sub.

Ah, that seems simple enough then - I fitted a DPX406 which I think has RCA output.

Will be adding one to my 'wish list'.
