This has been asked before, but a long time ago. I'm frustrated trying to find somewhere sensible to mount my phone in my 2. What solutions are people using?

Some preferences...
I don't want to damage my dash.
I don't want a disc stick to my phone.
Phone is a Samsung S7.
I need to see it easily for navigation and music.

Thanks

I have a magnetic one from amazon. Costs about £6. Fits in the vent solid. Comes with various flat metal discs that can either stick to the back of your phone or put behind the case. Or you can buy the matching case that has the metal plate built in and you don't know it's there.

Probably the best holder I've had at least.

The brodit mount attaches to the left side of the heater control panel and then you buy an adaptor for your phone. Pretty expensive but supposed to be good.

This is similar to the one I said but much more a pensive and larger.

I had a Spigen one and was quite happy.
Until the hot air from the vent melted the glue and it came apart.

Got this from Halfords last year, grips well, quick release, sticks well to window. I really like it. Doesn't impede too badly on top bin

Great responses, thanks everyone. I didn't realise I could slide one of those discs behind a case.

Which Brodit are you using? I like the look of them, but given the price I might take a punt on the £6 Amazon one first.

I'll get a photo later, but I didn't like the centre-mount as it doesn't feel right in the roadster: mine is mounted on the screen, but on the far right (UK, RHD car), with a long arm, so it sits just in line with the top of the air vent: perfectly visible, very close and only about 5" away from the steering wheel - I'm never going to touch it accidentally, but my hand scarcely needs to more off the wheel to do Waze notifications, etc...

The centre dash cubby works fine for me - the lid 'clamps' down and traps the phone perfectly!

I sorta made my own using bits lol... Spent about £5 or less to make.
Nice and compact. Doesn't stand out and look silly like the big ones you stick onto windows and stuff.
Can either use it flat or flip it up so I can use phone for navigation and as a bonus, pattern blends in with dashboard :D

If interested, I'll find a link for the bits I used.

Now that is a neat solution!  Please let me know the details!

Same here. Halfords special. Has worked great and survives runs out with even a Samsung Note3 in it.

I thought of the center cubby thing but I actually use it a fair bit (sunglasses, parking discs/passes, OBD2) so it would be in the way
...neutiquam erro.

Lastest are a pack of three from Amazon.
One goes on the windscreen one on the flat part in front of cubby and the third goes in the vent.
Take your pick what suits you best.
Less than 10 GBP

Double sided tape;
Magnetic holder comes with stickypad but I originally misplaced it, so I used Mammoth powergrip tape and some fake 3M tape instead lol. No idea if normal stickypad is any good.

Extra - Colour Matching Vinyl Wrap;
£1 for sample piece of A4 sized vinyl wrap off ebay to cover the magnetic plate that sticks onto your phone or cover... I just think it looks better without the magnetic plate standing out. This is not needed if you put the magnet underneath the phone cover.

each to their own - I like to be able to see the screen fairly close and touch the screen without leaning across at all or moving my hands too far from the wheel, so this works well for me...

and here's the routing for the charger... under the centre unit, over the top of the steering and into the side of the phone... USB-C fast charger :)

I've got an additional lighter socket flush mounted in my top cubby, supplied from the normal lighter socket. No wires draped around.

I've not done it on my '2 (yet), but in previous cars, because of my preference to have the mounting point on the side, I've taken a line out of the fuse box and setup a socket under the dash, so there's just the one line coming up to the phone - it would allow me to flip the phone 180deg and point the plug to the right.
