Hi all,

Recently bought this of the Bay of E:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-MR2-ROADSTER-CD-RADIO-STEREO-FASCIA-FACIA-PANEL-FITTING-KIT-FP-11-03/282567497281?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Said it was for MR2 2002 - 2004. Bit weird as the face lift was from 2003 ...  :-\

It arrived. The wiring loom is fine. The fascia does not fit! Bottom tabs interfere with the cupholder and there is nowhere I can see to attach it... at all! So, after much bleeding of the hands following my attempts to install it, I removed it and contacted the seller (who is asking many, many questions) to sort it out.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2003 MR2 single DIN fascia adapter?

I'm hoping I can help as I just installed one of these for my mums car a fortnight ago.

Mine already had the same but was fitted (badly) when I got the car.

The one for mum's was from a seller 'bassjunkies' and came with several different sets of side plates and an instruction booklet. Did you get the same?

There were two sets of fittings on the top of the main unit that had to be removed.

On each side plate, there were two plastic tabs that had to be snapped off (think they were marked RAV4).

I also had to remove four small mouldings/flashings in order for the main single din part to snap into them.

I hasten to add that I had to leave the side plates loosely screwed in, in order to fit the main single din part, as it was a very tight fit. Once in position I tightened the four screws.

Forgive me asking but what stage of the above did you get up to? And do you need a pic of it fitted?

There are no fitting instructions for the MR2. There are also no fitting plates with it. I snapped off the bottom part that was interfering with the cup holder and shoved the rest in. Its loosely in with the metal side plates on. It may come flying out... who knows. To look at its fine but its just not secure enough.

Thanks for your reply though, I think they should have provided side plates. I'll go back to the seller again.

That doesn't sound right. I'll be honest I don't see how it can interfere with the cup holders.

There should be two pieces of plastic that replicate the purpose of the metal side plates on the stock stereo.

I had extra pieces of plastic in the kit that in the end weren't used (they were for other Toyota cars). See example https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FP-11-03-Toyota-Multi-Kit-Car-Radio-Facia-Panel-Adaptor-for-Celica-Rav-4-MR2-/161642603957?_mwBanner=1

If you can get your money back this is the one I put in mum's 53 plate - https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FP-11-03-Toyota-MR2-2000-Car-Stereo-Single-Din-Fascia-Fitting-Kit-/261288749432

Can you post a picture of the parts you do have?

Really impressed with the adaptor I've just installed. It has a removable pocket so it can be used for double din unit later on if I decide to upgrade. It is an American product that has adapters and tabs to fit all kinds of different vehicles. You just have to saw off the unneeded ones with a hacksaw (10 min job). I did have to also trim the lower most part to get it to go past the cup holder mounting. Crucially though there are detailed instructions which clearly show which tabs you need to leave on which removes any uncertainty. The whole thing looks great and it fits perfectly inside the original outer bezel.

This is the seller/item I used on eBay:
