Bucket Bank.

As some of our members will be aware, the club keeps a fairly large collection of valve shims (otherwise known as 'buckets').

Over time, slight engine wear will make the valve clearances bigger, resulting in a rattly-tappety sounding engine.  Not only is this irritating, big valve gaps are not good for further engine wear, and they do have a small effect on performance.

The bank has been added to over time as people (mostly Carolyn and Spit) have scrapped bad engines and rescued useful parts.  This means it was getting big and a bugger both  to post, and to sort through all the sizes as need for a particular job.

It is now organised in compartmental trays in a small cabinet, so the bucket sizes can be quickly identified.

Posting this is (pretty much) out of the question.

So it will no longer be possible to do a home valve adjustment in one day, unless you come to the bank, rather than have it come to you.  (It is presently stored in Carolyn's workshop).

This is no different to getting buckets from Toyota as the dealers rarely have them in stock (too many sizes).  The big difference is cost.  No charge except for postage, return of the buckets you've replaced, and a small, voluntary, donation to the club.

Tell whoever is the current banker what sizes you need and they'll be posted out.

This is a club service available to members in good standing.

Perry Byrnes Memorial Award 2016, 2018.  Love this club.
