I have owned several LandRovers where you had to take the passenger seat out to get to the cap. Door open ánd seat out. I a way a sensible improvement on the Dubois set up as the seat would not get fuel spilled on it,
Some of the Landies had a rather neat recess for the cap and an integreted latch over it for a padlock.
The Series3 109 Cazorla 6 (by Santana) had bóth and the ambulance had a tank under both seats!

But then again, light tan leather and white wool probably wouldn't be too difficult to clean up after a messy refuel.
Mr Dubois could have at least made an opening rear window to help the situation!

Isn't 'easy access' with the door window down and the door shut? ;)

Of course Stu, the closed door would help to keep the fuel hose off of the upholstery.
I can see your time at JLR has not been wasted😉
