Well I knew it but the garage confirmed the battery is dead.

Best place for replacement?

Anyone know the battery type / part code?

Any recommendations for make / recommendations not to use!

Thanks. Will have a look.

Thread link mate? - scrap that. Link wasn't showing on phone. It is now.

I'll look and see how much they are on Amazon and Halfords!  :)

That's what I used earlier in the year, no complaints. Two comments though.  Firstly it's much heavier than the one I removed and secondly I think the silver looks a bit naff in the engine bay.

Oh Petrus won't like it if it's heavy.

Not bothered by looks - my engine bay isnt going to win any awards! Haha.

There was an award at Ding Day a few years back for "worst kept engine bay"! You might win that. ;)

Funnily enough I was thinking that as I wrote that! I think I'm actually giving Scotte a run  for how dirty she is generally!

So been to Halfords today armed with a number of online retailers prices, to see if the will match them oveer there £100 price tag for the Yuasa battery!

There "new" policy is that they will not price match with online retailers, only businesses within a 20 mile radius. :(

To be fair to the guy, he did offer to put it through as trade, at £80 but Amazon are selling them for £65 so still not close enough to say yes.

Did however find a local car parts store which was doing it for £65, available tomorrow, - so just ordered it from there!

Got back to work, and then realised I should of gone back to Halfords with local proof of the £65 price tag and got it there and then!  :(

Coulda just ordered from Amazon or another online, but though my luck would dictate that when they try to deliver tomorrow, noone would be in and then i wouldnt have it on Saturday to get the car started!!!

Least I know they will have it sitting for me when I go to pick it up! :)

Not yet mate. You need to dir-tail (new word for us non-detailers, @1979scotte ) the new battery first.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

If you are running without a nappy then that confirms my thoughts on that subject.
If you are running with a nappy then that must just be a complete absence of tlc.

Yes running without a nappy. Been meaning to put it back on for years! Haha.

Will refit it once I replace the subframe.

Also doesn't help that it's been sitting in a dusty garage with the lid open.

Another vote for the Yuasa from me, and at £65.99 from Amazon including free delivery it's a no-brainer.  Direct link here if anyone needs it:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yuasa-YBX5053-Performance-Starter-Battery/dp/B00KNQT0N4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1545901370&sr=8-1&keywords=Yuasa+HSB053

The battery went belly-up on Ruby a few months ago, and although I'd never heard of Yuasa, that was the one recommended on here, so that's good enough for me.  No problems since, although obviously it's not had a winter to cope with yet. It has a 5 year warranty though, so that gives some peace of mind.

Turbotrucker

Thanks for the above advice guys. If anyone is interested, the yuasa 5053 is £55 on eBay at moment.

Following on from above;
I need a new battery, but I have conflicting interests.
1) I'd like a light weight, like an Oddysey, or hell, even something like what @Petrus  is running.
2) I have a subwoofer, heated seats, radio, etc and it's a daily. So I'm guessing I need something with a bit more oomph?

The car hardly ever stands unused for more than 2 days over the weekend. And even then it tends to go out at least once. It's a hard-used daily. So, I don't need it to be able hold a charge for weeks. If I do leave, I can put it on a trickle.

Suggestions?

Even for them options I'd still go with the Yuasa. If you don't need the extra capacity of the silver, they do a cheaper 3053 which might be lighter.

You have to sacrifice something, lightness or capacity. You decide?!
