While looking for the right colour you might want to think about the combination with the wheels. Most silverblue does NOT go well with silvergrey wheels whereas the slightest bit of gold in the silverblue makes it go fab with very light ´gold´ wheel per example.
Black wheels go ok but... just ok is what you want when putting só much effort in the car colour?!

Jaguar opalescent blue was popular on E-Type roadsters. It always looks stunning to me.

Not what you're looking for, but a I'm a big fan of Aston Martin Ultramarine Black matched time a navy roof and interior.

Cheers guys - I appear to be going for the lighter "ice blue".. going to buy an aerosol can to do a trial spray on a spare panel.. it's £15 a can so I might stump up for the mercedes one as well just for kicks.

Liking this.. I seem to have polarised between the silver/lighter colours vs going for a definite "blue"..  like what Stu is suggesting:

John, here are links to Blue Bristol and the rather less exclusive MX4+1 ( with a blue roof)
PS you can't link to it because the link has that unmentionable vehicle in the title.
I saw such a car today and thought of your quest. The link does " specify" the colour .

If you haven't done so already a  web search for light blue metallic xxxxx cars brings up multiple choices.

Thanks very much - like the look of the Bristol one.. just need to figure out the code/supply.
I've also just found a local paint shop that I had no idea existed, so I'll pop over there one day and see what kind of sample colours they have.

I just had a look at the various pictures of the Bristol and there is an interior shot showing something on the floor by the pedals, I wonder how many on here remember using that?

Manual choke? If so, the bike I just sold still had one!

Sorry, no, not a manual choke, had several cars with that feature and a '67 Fiat 1500 that also had a manual throttle to help get the choke in quickly on cold starts.

Don´t know how that is in the UK but the colour of the car in some countries mentioned on the vehicle registration document. It certainly figures on the VIN plate.
This means that red tape wise a change of colour should be registered in the vehicle details by MOD.
I have run into this 40 years ago in The Netherlands.

Yeah I'd have to register a colour change... in the grand scheme of things it's a minor inconvenience compared to the actual task

I remember a couple of cars that had a dip switch on the floor.

Correct ( again),  you must win so many coconuts Carolyn.

I did have a MK1 Escort with a manual footpump windscreen washer by the clutch - is that what you mean by dip switch?

Also Ford did this

It's called Denim Blue.. and erm.. I'm happy and annoyed.. if I went with this colour, it would be the colour I think I might want.. but I'm annoyed because it's not a special colour.. it's on a Corolla!/ Auris..  >:(

Went past eurocolour in Hemel and had a quick browse through like a million colours..

@Oddshoes suggested non-metallic to get a deeper colour... might try and see if I can get this colour in a non-metallic form..

How about this deep teal from Volvo? Quite an atypical choice but I love it on mine and I rarely ever see anything like it.

Another choice could be this XC40 teal

Mx-5 has one of the best blue/silver stuff that I like a lot. Try googling "eternal blue mx5 fd2".
