Putting my 2 on a crash diet and looking at lightweight batteries but im not sure what would work best, bit clueless on the specs of them.

Car will mainly be used for track work but will still get the odd use on the road so want it to be capable of running lights fans etc.

I have found a very light lithium battery that has 420 cca's and 12ah. Would this work?

Thanks.

@Iain
Have a look at @Petrus 's. Southern Belle thread in Readers Rides, he used a lightweight battery some years ago and now has one in his 2:

I used this https://www.tayna.co.uk/motorcycle-batteries/exide/eltx20h-bs/

It lasts for about a week with the alarm and an ODB reader connected. Charges up in about an hour if flat and if I'm not using the car I plug it in to a Lithium charger.
It easily turns the car over in fact I think it's got a better cranking power than a small lead acid and it weighd about 800gms.

Check out the batteries at Jack Webb Motorsport too - very reasonable LiFePO batteries.

Bought the same battery months ago(probably via your recommendation methinks), has worked very well, but can go flat quite quickly if doing something stupid like leaving a door open for hours, but bought this handy jump starter which I have used twice

stock 2001 Dark Green MR-S (6R4)
stock 2004 Black - repurchased from guy who bought yellow 'un

Do you have square to round terminal adapters? Was thinking about a pc680 battery but the elx20h is even lighter !

Nvy

Went with unibat ult4, so far so good. 200 quids together with the charger.

Mark A

Mine has square, you can buy adapters for about £20 but I've not bothered.

Mine weighs 800 gram. No issue with the connections.
Also fitted a voltage meter (instead of the head unit) to keep an eye on things.

Some more weight savings in Belle´s thread.

P.e.

Have not put weighed it since the last reductions. Should be under 900 kgs topped up with fuel.
Have a 250 kg scales; even corner weighed my sidecar! so it´s just lazyness.

Fabricating a lightweight grp bonnet it still on the list. Not really worth the effort for the 5 or so kgs but when one has gone to the previous lengths I went to it. is doés make sense  :-*

Also ádded some weight btw O:-)
Currently STILL  >:D  faffing with a Le Mans type flip up filler cap replacing the dingy door and horrid plastic thing.
