@JohnGee

You could try a soft cover in lieu of modifying the hard plastic cover.
Paul Hibbs (cyclehead) has made some top drawer leather covers of late.
They look very elegant indeed, like those leather lined trunks so popular in Singer Porsche recreations but at a lower price point.

That does indeed look the business. Think I might see what sort of a job I can make of adapting  another lid - planning on keeping my original surround and lid - but could be tempted by something like that. Thanks for sharing.

Cyclehead is over on spyderchat USA forums, I think he selling these as someone bought one from him recently. Not sure how many he's making but we might need to make a UK group buy to make it interesting for him.
I'd be up for one.

I think I'd rather try to fashion a new lid out of an old one first. Not really sure how this will work, so MIGHT be interested in a purpose made cover, but would depend on cost (including delivery). If you're keen to move this forward in the short to medium term, can you let me know the cost once you've explored further. Thanks.

I think it looks GREAT but I think he would of found it easier fitting the cover before the brace, a lot easier I think.

Did I mention I think it looks GREAT ? :)
Say it with love, say it with flowers but never, never, say it in writing.

I think elephants look great, but I'm not too sure I really want / need one. (A hamster would almost certainly be easier and cheaper to look after)

Elephants live longer and could help out in the garden whereas hamsters just go round and round, give me an Elephant any day :)
