Not that I am biased or owt, but your PFL bumper and spat combo do look purposeful and cool. 8) 8)

Not to mention the ground hugging under lip.

A nice picture from the Jap performance show the other week.

I was rather pleased to find a card under my wiper blade when I left saying I had been selected and invited to join Exclusive JDM, a premium car club. Little things eh!

Whereas I had one from a supplier of random stuff to stick to it, can't understand it really...

Yours was well deserved though...

So, having failed to take advantage of StuCs group buy, I set out to make my own kick panels.

Nothing particularly hard about the job but it is not quick (well, the way I work anyway).

Making the panels starts off with cardboard templates which then get copied in plywood. This is what took me the most time as I was trying to keep them as big as possible so lots of shaving bits off here and there until I was happy with the fit. Both sides are different so no short cuts!

Next step, trim the automotive carpet to shape, this takes some time too to try and get them right so I didnt need to do any trimming once the glue was on.

Glue both sides, let it touch dry then the moment of truth, can you get the panel in the right place with the contact adhesive!

Then glue the back of the edge of the panel. Good job no-one will ever see this side...

Then pop them in the car.

I am very happy with the result, they really do look way better to my eyes.
The passenger side one springs out at the back so I took a cable hook, took out the nail and drilled it out to get a screw in there which I screwed to the air outlet pipe to keep it in place (not the best picture but my cmaera cant seem to focus on carpet for some reason!).

Oh, 373 gms all in!

Very nice Simon. And now you know how much work it is for StuC and Mrs StuC
...neutiquam erro.

@Topdownman good job fella. Well done for having a go. I agree with you that it's not difficult, but it is time consuming.

Cheers Guys. I must have spent something stupid like 8-10 hours over 3 days doing them so its a labour of love for sure.

If Stu fires up his group buy again, I would advise everyone to take him up on it straightaway!

Perhaps it's an obscure convertible reference...

Some kind of "wood" reference? ;)

Got round to taking the rear heat shield off yesterday,

Very pleased with the improved visibility/access. I can now see the oil leak from a rocker cover and how the heat of the exhaust is burning through the paint on the arb in a couple of places where they are close to each other. Oh, and is that evidence of an exhaust leak too? Looking forward to improved airflow and no melting bumper!

After the trip to the Yakushi show last weekend and an incident involving going over a level crossing too fast, it was a good time to swop front bumpers for a bit.

This gave me a chance to admire my bumper collection.

Thats a top secret on the left, pfl with front lip and rubber strip and fl on the right. The height difference is something like 55mm between the TS and fl bumpers!

The photo reminds me of one of of evolution type pictures. It seems to be going backwards though!

Thank you!
The exhaust is a treat for the eye and the bumpers intersting and enlightening. Hope a reapir is not too much of a hassle.

Really like this build, it's got me looking for V6's coming up in the classifieds!
1zz turbo. Home built and home mapped.

Now 2zz turbo +e153 conversion. Home built and home mapped

You wouldnt be the first turbo owner to be lured away by a couple of extra cylinders!

Not sure the temporary look of low side skirts with standard front and rears is working for me though,,,

Just wanted to pop this old photo on this thread so I can find it.

If you have another engine fitted in the car and the yellow fuse (rear fusebox) blows, the engine cranks but wont start. This happened to me and a 2zz conversion and in both cases, the AA couldnt find the fault.

The car wouldnt start yesterday so I took it out to check but then put it back in the wrong place!

Will make a very handy anti theft plan if leaving the car for a while though..

Who you talking about?
Can't be me.
I was lured away by torque. 😜
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Just come home in the hybrid.

Its going to be the my transportation for the next week.

It seems January is my engine out and strip down month.

At least I wont have to pay for the GT86 as that is a recall.

The MR2 on the other hand....

So engine out and strip down on the GT86? But how's the V6 coming along? As much as I'll miss the little puffs I'll be much happier when it's running as it should.
