Title: Fluid capacities
Post by: Carolyn on October 24, 2022, 11:04
Facelift and pre-facelft cars are slightly different.

Engine oil: 3.7 Ltr

Coolant: 10.4 Ltr

Gearbox: PFL: 1.9 Ltr  FL: 2.1 LTR

Power steering fluid: .65 Ltr,  but to do a proper flush you'll need 2 Ltr

Not exactly intuitive to my mind. The FL has an extra cog, taking up volume compared to the PFL, so why the need for more oil ?
PS
Especially as overfilling is considered unwise.

If filled correctly via the side fill hole. Cannot over fill. When if runs out. Your done.

OK you could overfill, but would have to be a deliberate effort to do so.

But that redundant "plug" on top of the gear box is so tempting for some I guess!

That extra cog results in a physically bigger gearbox casing.

That would explain it, thank you. It raised a question in my mind as I understood the gear boxes to be interchangeable. All hypothetical to me though.

Considering doing brake n clutch fluid replacement ....any clues to capacity, so I order the correct amount?

Had a look through what bits of info I have. And cannot find a volume.
What type etc. But not how much.
If a normal bleed through. Be surprised if need more than a litre.

A litre will be sufficient.

I'm doing brake and clutch fluid soon too.

@Carolyn do you mean 1 litre is sufficient for the braking circuit AND the clutch line?

I suggest it prudent to do the brake circuit completely first and use what is left to do the clutch

Agreed.

I'm getting two litres, to have one for next time I change it.
