Title: Trouble tracking down a front subframe crossmember part
Post by: househead on December 12, 2023, 13:42
Hey all. Hope you're all well!

My lovely car failed its MOT this week. Part of the subframe front cross-member is damaged. My old garage in London used to pass the car despite this (on account of the centre brace I have) but the new place are refusing to. The part seems hard to find.

On the provided image, it's labelled 51202C.

Any ideas what this is actually called and where I might obtain one? Are any of the breakers still operating?

All the best!

Absolutely interested! Seems pretty unobtainium from the usual channels. Pretty sure that I've hit something at some point, and the car is rather low.

Hello to you too. Yea, I thought this would be my best shot.

I feel a little guilty popping back here just when I need something, but the truth is the car hasn't seen much action and I've barely had any free time since my kids came along (twins! :D). I will try and get amongst the forum again soon tho!

This is the full set of bracing. If you want just the 3 bars, I will keep the main braces.

Hey congrats on the Twins! I have twins as well - it's brilliant but hard work. Do shout if you ever want some thoughts on how to tackle certain things..

I think it's just the longer bar I need but probably makes sense to replace all 3 so that would be sweet thanks. I'll grab you on PM assuming that's not against any rules.

Technically you can probably remove the rusty one for the mot and not have an issue, if it's not fitted it can't fail on it and if they don't know it should be there...
