Still park in gear and not using the handbrake.
To start the car, just clutch in with foot on the brake.

I have a very sloped driveway and often with a much more expensive car parked in front it. Hence not taking any risks

Got the same challenge although hoping new oem cables will take a few years to stretch now 😁
