I know it might sound like an obvious thing. Have you had your battery checked out?

I doubt it.  The security is in the ECU.

Was about to create a new thread for my problem and thought I'd be a good forum member and see if there are any threads I can answer first.

Undfortunately I don't have an answer but a related problem -  I now have some issues with my foglights which flicker even when not turned on.

This has got progressively worse over time. In the summer I took out the rear bulbs to avoid the danger for drivers behind - and have replaced the left hand indicator stalk to see if it was a switch problem.


This isn't it - so maybe a dodgy ground or relay.


EDIT: I've had a look through a copy of a wiring diagram I have but hte copy is a USA one - so while it has side lights on it it doesn't appear to have rear fog lights. Anyone got a UK wiring diagram?



Given the dash light comes on without activating the switch - and the dash light flickers at the same time as the lights - I would say your problem lies with not being able to activate a relay or on the other side of the relay.

Mine must be on the switch side of the relay. Does anyone know where teh relay is? Is it a relay?  I'll try and find the wiring diagram

My Smart ForTwo has 2 advisories of the exact same thing.

I asked about that as well. It seems that at some time in the past it has had a leak, possibly rocker cover gasket, and has left oil on the block. In time Ive had its not used any oil or needed topping up. There's definitely not a current leak.

Hi,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction in chasing down this fault. Recently brought the car and several electrical gadgets are not working.


-Interior light

-Window demister

-Clock - Realllly dim, only shows 01:00 and won't save time. Tried another clock and same issue.

-Stereo not saving settings. Soon as memory wire is connected, it stops working so both power and memory have to be connected to power wire only.

-Central locking not working. There's also no door chime or symbol on speedo when it's opened.

-Rear foglights - Fronts are missing but doubt this matters. No illuminated foglight symbol on speedo when turning on or off either. Tried another headlight stalk from my Celica and not working also.

Have checked all fuses and everything seems fine?
