The Other Stu

A little feedback if I may :)

I know it sounds funny, because I only fitted it on Saturday, but I actually forgot it was going to handle a little differently when I took her out on Monday night.

Definitely has an improved, less flexible feel. Car does what I tell it to do with a lot more certainty.

What it has made me realise is that I should a) look at a rear brace and b) should have bought some of those engine shock mounts. If someone can bump me the thread, I'll see if I can make my own.

@The Other Stu

That's kinda confirming one of my fears. That adding a great front brace will lead to chasing braces everywhere else on the car!

Don't worry too much if you have a mid brace.
I liked my TRD rear but it didn't make that much difference I think you need coilovers to tell.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The best bang for the buck, is to tigerseal your fore and aft engine mounts.  Less vibration and more positive gear change...

Glad you like the brace, though!!  Back strut brace - not so much.  I have a TRD, well engineered, but little noticeable difference with it on or off the car.

Must be Helen's car it doesn't look all.... bodged! ;)

Looks like it's meant to be there! Nice install fella. :D

I agree with @1979scotte original colour choice. A yellow strut contrasting in there would look just dandy. 8)

I liked my TRD rear but it didn't make that much difference I think you need coilovers to tell.

If we are talking of a rear brace from turret to turret I cannot see how that would improve on the standard brace. If you look at most forms of bracing (bridges etc) they run diagonally just like the standard one in our cars.

Am I missing something? Greg

well... yes... but...  While the triangulated bracing makes sense, a brace straight across stops what's known as lozenging.  However in the case of our engine bays, they are already pretty rigid from side to side, with the massive sub-frame, the upper cross-member above the silencer, and the firewall.  That tubular brace really would not have any affect to pure -side-to-side movement (lozenging), as it's only two sides of the triangle.

Btw, did we had any install on LHD car?

Carolyn

No we have not tried it on an LHD car.  But, having looked at the TRD brace for LHD, this one should fit no problem.

'Hinges':  Well they aren't really hinges per se, they are bridging plates that allow the frunk lid to hinge.

I'd like to make these in batches too.

Please put your name down if you want these sent.  For buyers of the second batch of braces, I can post them in the packaging for the brace.

£15 extra, I'm afraid....
