Title: Gauges with an engine swap
Post by: Bullit on January 18, 2021, 13:39
I wasn't sure where to put this.
I'm currently swapping a k20 in to my MRS. As it's an import it has the speedo converted to read in mph. I'm trying to get me head around swapping in a different gearbox and ecu, In my mind i feel like i'll have to use uk gauges ??

Anyone had experience with this ?

When installing a different ecu into a roadster you usually need to retain the stock ecu to make the gauges work. The only exception I've seen to this is the PFC.
So if it worked fine with what you've got now it will work with your new ecu. If connected up properly.
Does that make sense?

I'm not retaining the stock ecu i'm using a multiplexer to convert the honda signals to toyota

Seeing more and more use of these multiplexers to get around the need for the stock ECU. If you're happy to remove the stock immobiliser.

As per Scotte... If it works now, I'm guessing you want to keep what you've got, just have it working on the K20 ecu.

The multiplexer really is just for a few signals that are the same across UK/US anyway (coolant temp, battery, water) so should be fine. You don't have an immobiliser now anyway right so that's not an issue
